Telephony Integration for Harmony Users!

This week we will take a look at a smart new set of features which allow a number of telephony related integrations.  These let you:

  • Click on telephone numbers in the system through the use of tel: links. These will fire up the softphone on your PC to dial the number
  • Configure your PBX so an incoming call will fire up a browser session with the customer, contact or ticket creation screen for the contact already selected
The first point is fairly self-explanatory, but for the other,  you need to know which URL to put into your PBX.   In the following examples replace TELNO with the telephone number which is dialing in.
 
To go to a particular contact matching a telephone number, add the following to your base url:
/goto/contactfortelno/TELNO
 
To go to particular company where the company's telephone number, or any contacts' telephone numbers match, add the following to your base url:
/goto/companyfortelno/TELNO
 
To go to the ticket creation screen for the telephone number, add the following to your base url:
/goto/createticketfortelno/TELNO
 
In all cases Harmony does its best to deal with the myriad of potential ways you could pass in the telephone number, and how it might be stored.
 
Also if there are multiple matches returned, you will be presented with a list and you can choose the most likely one.
